Individuals

Commissions are very welcome, if looking through my work has given you ideas for personalised artwork for yourselves or someone you know I will happily talk with you about it. I promise honesty, as I do not want to commit to producing something that you would not be totally happy with, and there are styles and subjects that would be better handled by others.

Publishers

Obviously I would be only to happy to receive commissions for larger projects to illustrate,  whether that is full artwork and illustrations for children's books or fewer illustrations or cartoons to liven up text heavy, adult based publications. I have experience in both. Also by working in production in the publishing industry I understand the publishing process very well and  the need to work to sometimes tight deadlines, and I stick to deadlines I make.

Rates

I will generally try to work to rate of £20 per hour, and after understanding requirements I will try to give a reasonable estimate of time to complete a given commission. The following factors will influence the time it may take to produce a given piece of work:

  • Size - obviously the size of the work required will influence how long it may take to complete
  • Colour - if the work is required in colour it will take longer than producing it in black and white or a single colour
  • Complexity - the complexity of a subject will influence the time it will take to complete regardless of the size, for instance drawing a crowd of people will take much longer than a few people
  • Subject matter - I have more favoured subject matters and some that I am not so keen to illustrate/ paint, and subjects that I am more familiar with will not take me as long as ones that I am less familiar with. I will be up front about what might take me longer to produce, in which case might be better suited to someone else.
  • Medium - I have used a number of different mediums, oil, acrylic, gouach, clay modeling etc, but I more frequently use dip pen and ink often combined with watercolour. I will happily accept commissions to utilise other mediums but  a quicker and therefor  less costly style would be in using more familiar materials.
